How to embed a video on a Shopify blog post using a YouTube video

We will upload your video to YouTube and mark it as "unlisted" if you don't want to publicly publish it. If you are publishing from Desktop, do that as you would normally do.... from mobile:

How to Publish the video as Unlisted from mobile:

  • In the Youtube app: click the plus sign > choose your video > choose next
  • Under visibility > choose unlisted > choose upload
  • The title will be visible in your blog post.

You may immediately be able to see "see video". If not go to "You" Icon in bottom right (your video may still be uploading).

    • Choose Your videos > tap the three dots on the right side > Share video > Copy link

If you cannot do it from a desktop, Google "YouTube embed code generator" to get the embed code

How to get the embed code from Desktop:

    • Paste the video link in a browser to view it.
    • From there > click the Share button below the video on Youtube > Embed
    • In the next window you'll see code that starts with <iframe
    • Click the code, and it will highlight it all > Copy it (I can right-click on desktop)

In Shopify > Online store > Blog posts

    • Add blog post
    • In the tools above the text entry area > Choose the third to last icon, the play icon says "Insert video"
    • Paste the code that starts with <iframe and ends with </iframe>
    • Finalize with the Insert video button

Arrow around the video to the left or the right to navigate around the video and continue your text editing for your blog. You may want to insert the video last for easier text editing so you don't have to work around the video. Side note I do think you should publicly publish it and grow your visibility! But that's off-topic haha. SAME method just don't leave it as unlisted when you publish, use public.

Blogging is a fantastic tool for Shopify store owners, and it can make a big difference in how your business grows. Here are three reasons why you should consider adding a blog to your store:

1 - Boost Your Organic Traffic:

By regularly posting blog content with the right keywords, you can help your store show up more often in search engine results like Google. Writing about topics that matter to your target audience can attract new visitors to your site, even before they’re ready to shop. This way, your store stays top of mind when they decide to make a purchase.

2 - Build Trust and Authority:

Blogging is a great way to share your expertise with your audience. When you offer valuable tips, insights, and industry knowledge, you position your brand as an expert in your field. This helps build trust with your customers, making them more confident and likely to choose your store when it’s time to buy.

3 - Increase Engagement and Loyalty:

A well-maintained blog keeps your audience interested by providing content that speaks to their needs and interests. Whether you’re offering how-to guides, product updates, or sharing the story behind your brand, blogging helps you connect with your customers on a deeper level. This connection fosters loyalty, encouraging repeat purchases and keeping your brand at the forefront of their shopping journey.

Blogging + Email marketing + Pinterest

Blogging creates great reach content to draw in potential new customers organically. This is part of what I would include in the "Attract" phase of your OARS journey: Optimize, Attract, Remarket, and Scale.

Layer that in with another potential great content piece for your email marketing... and you're on your way to building a solid customer journey ecosystem. Next - increase your reach by publishing to Pinterest. Blog posts are effective for online stores interested in using Pinterest – you don't have to only pin your products ;)
